ABOUT THE EVENT

Have you recently moved to Breda or region West Brabant? Then join our Welcome to Breda Event on Saturday 14 March.

We organise this event to welcome newly arrived internationals to the region. During this event, you will go on a guided walking tour of Breda and you will get to meet other newly arrived internationals!

This event has two parts, and you’re welcome to join either one or both parts.

Part 1 — Open Welcome Session and Meet the Mayor (open to everyone)

Location: Nieuwe Veste (Molenstraat 6)
Start time: 13:30
Who is it for? All residents, new or existing!

We are honoured to welcome the Mayor of Breda, Paul Depla. This is a special moment to feel welcomed directly by the city’s leadership and to learn more about Breda’s commitment to an inclusive and international community.

You may attend this part without joining the walking tour.

During the Open Welcome Session, you will hear short presentations from:

  • Breda Internationals – an introduction to who we are, what we offer, and how we support the international community in Breda.
  • Afvalservice (Gemeente Breda) – practical information on waste collection, recycling rules, and how to sort household waste in the city.
  • Welkomsttaal and Digi-Taalhuis – an overview of how to get started with learning Dutch.

Part 2 — Walking Tour for New Residents

Starting point: Nieuwe Veste (Molenstraat 6)
Who is it for? New residents of Breda and West Brabant
Start: Tour departs right after the presentations

Are you new in town? Join our guided walking tour with Breda Wandelt to explore:

  • Breda’s historic centre
  • Key cultural and practical locations
  • Hidden gems and local stories

13:40  Presentation from Breda Internationals
14:00  Welcome speech by Mayor Paul Depla
14:20  Presentation from Welkomsttaal and Digi-Taalhuis (Dutch language learning)
14:40  Presentation from the Municipal Waste Service
15:00  Start of guided tour (new residents) or networking drink (existing residents)
17:00  End

 

Registration

The event is free to attend, but registration is required! At the Sign-up Link, select New Residents tickets to attend both the presentations and the walking tour, or Existing Residents tickets to attend the presentations only.
