International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and a call to action for accelerating gender equality. It is a movement powered by collective efforts everywhere, and Breda is proud to be part of it.

We’re excited to return with our 6th annual International Women’s Day Breda, building on last year’s amazing edition that welcomed around 170 attendees. The event is organised by Breda Internationals, Aithra, Gemeente Breda, Els Borst Netwerk, VVAO and Soroptimist Club Breda.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, invites us to reflect on how generosity and connection can strengthen not only individuals but entire communities. This event is about more than conversation. It is about creating space for diverse voices, sharing stories that inspire change, and building bridges between locals and internationals. When we give our time, our support, or our understanding, we gain something even greater: trust, friendship, and a stronger network.

SPEAKER

We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker will be Suzanne Laszlo, Executive Director of UNICEF Netherlands, who will share insights connected to #GiveToGain and the power of investing in women and girls.

Before joining UNICEF, Suzanne served as Chief Operating Officer at Het Nederlandse Rode Kruis. Her career includes leadership roles in hospitality, healthcare and the humanitarian and development sector. Alongside her work at UNICEF, she is a board member of the NL Emergency Appeal Alliance (Giro555) and serves on the boards of Sheltersuit International and the Netherlands Helsinki Committee.

We are honoured to welcome Suzanne to IWD Breda 2026, where she will bring her extensive experience, global perspective and commitment to equality to our community.

DONATE TO WOMEN IN NEED

When women flee unsafe situations, they often leave with only the bare essentials. While physical safety is the priority, regaining a sense of “self” is a vital part of the healing journey. We are collecting beauty and care products for Safegroup Breda to help women starting over reclaim their dignity and confidence.

How you can help?
Bring a new care or beauty product to the event: think shampoo, face cream, masks, or makeup. Whatever makes you feel like the best version of yourself, pass that feeling on to a woman in need.
